Dental Smile Makeover

Designed to look better in many ways

As the name suggests a smile makeover is a new smile that has been designed to look better in many ways. It may align crowded teeth, close gaps, reduce protrusion, whiten, reduce a gummy smile, widen a narrow smile, change the length or shape of teeth, replace missing teeth or any combination of the above. A smile makeover usually involves at least the top eight or ten teeth and sometimes the lower eight or ten teeth too. The most frequent treatments used in a smile makeover are multiple porcelain veneers because they are the most conservative restoration and because they are strong and highly aesthetic.

However, porcelain crowns, bridges, implants and even implant supported dentures can also be part of a smile makeover depending on the case. Smile makeovers can also involve rapid orthodontics using Inman aligners to either prealign teeth prior to multiple porcelain veneers or to align minor crowding of the lower teeth when only the upper teeth are to be veneered. If upper teeth only are being treated with veneers then lower teeth are usually at least whitened.

Our process

1Consultation with Computer aided smile design

At the London smile clinic, our Smile makeovers all involve a design stage using computer aided smile design. This is a process in which a photo of a patients teeth are redesigned using powerful graphics software. Patients can help design their own perfect smile.

The next step in a smile makeover is to take impressions and for the master ceramist to create a 3d model from the smile design. These models are used to check the aesthetics and function from every angle.

3Trial smile and final smile makeover

When the teeth are prepared for the veneers or crowns, temporaries are then placed using a template made from the 3d preview. This gives patients the opportunity to trial their smile makeover before anything is set in stone. Any changes are easy to build into the final veneers which are fitted at the following appointment.

4Enjoy your smile

This step by step process is routinely used at the London smile clinic for every smile makeover case. It makes our smile makeovers highly predictable and uniquely fine-tuned to the individual.

This patient came to us at The London Smile Clinic initially concerned about the general health of his teeth. Once this concern had been addressed he then decided that improving his “smile” would be a good idea too! So he now has healthy teeth and after having a full set of veneers fitted a great new smile to show off and by his own admission has been “smiling most of the time since”

This young lady was very unhappy with her tiny, almost child-like teeth, and the gaps in between them. She had a full mouth rehabilitation; first we used fixed braces to correct the alignment and minimize the spacing, then Tim has placed porcelain veneers both on the upper and lower teeth for a beautiful, natural smile.

This patient presented to us with a number of concerns with her teeth and requested a full smile makeover. The teeth were aligned initially using fixed orthodontic braces. Once the teeth were straightened Dr Russell contoured the gums and an implant was placed. Finally, we then used a combination of veneers and crowns to give this truly amazing result.

This patient waited many years before finally coming to The London Smile Clinic to replace his old crowns and improve his smile. His makeover included the Inman aligner treatment as well as new crowns and veneers to give an amazing final result he is proud of.

After seeing how great her sister’s new smile looked, this patient chose to have a smile makeover herself. Porcelain bridges & crowns were placed along with some whitening to develop a beautiful new smile.
