What is a dental veneer?
A veneer is a new front surface for a tooth, custom made from porcelain. Veneers are extremely versatile and can be used to align crowding or protruding teeth, close gaps or lighten tooth colour. The strength and appearance of our dental porcelain veneers rivals that of natural teeth and they’re used to make long lasting changes to the smile.

Dental Veneers and Dental Porcelain Crowns
This patient had never had the confidence to smile, especially in photos, due to her chipped front tooth and large gap. She had whitening to remove discolouration and brighten her smile, as well as veneers on her top four teeth to restore her chipped teeth and create a beautiful smile.
This patient came to the clinic looking for a confidence boost as she was unhappy with her smile. A gum lift on 3 teeth followed by 8 upper veneers and whitening proved to be the confidence booster she needed and now she can’t stop smiling.
This patient came to us after years of being unhappy with his smile. He had clear aligner treatment as well as 4 veneers on his top teeth and tooth whitening to achieve this great result! He is finally happy with his smile and much more confident.
This patient was unhappy with the appearance of her front teeth as old dental work began to show the signs of ageing. Two new crowns and two new veneers were placed to refresh and brighten her smile.
Dental porcelain veneers can be used to mask a single dark tooth but more often are used as part of smile makeover.
1Digital Smile Planning
At the London smile clinic our smile makeovers start at the consultation where we find out what clients don’t like about their teeth and what type of smile is required. Computer aided smile design is then used to design the smile and to fine tune the required tooth shapes and colour to the client’s wishes.
When the client is ready to proceed with treatment the next step is to create a 3d preview model. Our ceramist uses the computer aided smile design to create this 3d version of the smile design so it can be checked from all angles for aesthetics and function.
Dental porcelain veneers are then provided as planned over two main treatment appointments. At the first appointment the teeth are prepared. This process involves trimming back a thin layer from the front surface and biting edge to make space for the veneer. Impressions are taken and temporary veneers are made using a template made from the 3d preview model.
Importantly, this gives our patients an opportunity to trial the planned smile design in their own mouths before the veneers are made. Any changes or fine adjustments can be made to the temporaries and reproduced in the final veneers. All veneers are made with this technique at the London smile clinic.
These treatments are all carried out using our pain-free anaesthetic techniques. Clients can relax and watch DVD’s with our DVD goggle in-chair entertainment system.
